Message from HOD

I welcome all of you to the Department of Economics at Govt. Islamia Graduate College Kasur. Our aim is to provide students with the intellectual and analytical tools and skills necessary for being critical thinkers and for using the analytical tools to analyze, confront and solve problems associated with important economic, political and social issues. Students will be trained with modern theoretical and quantitative methods of research and will be enabled to pursue lifelong learning opportunities.

We have a dedicated and qualified faculty to peruse our objective of transforming into leading economics department in the country. We started off with Master Degree program in economics in 2006 and built on its success. Since then, a significant number of students have been graduated and working at key positions in government and private sectors. Few of them are part of teaching institutions (on administrative and faculty positions) while others are serving in Banking sector, MNC’s and different government departments.

Considering the market needs, the Department of Economics has launched the BS program in Economics. I am fully confident that with the dedication and perseverance of our faculty, the introduction of new program aligned with market needs and excellence in research, we will shortly become the leading and recognizable seat learning in economics. The department organizes various workshops and seminar on regular basis to familiarize students with latest research techniques in economic data analysis.
